Tobby R. Hughes serves as the operations manager and lead investigator for BigGreen Investigations. He brings extensive experience in law enforcement and criminal investigation. He is a United States Army veteran and served 5 years active duty Military Police.
Following his service in the military, Mr. Hughes began his career with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office in 2001. He was promoted to Detective in 2006 and later served in roles including Patrol Field Training Coordinator, SWAT Team Leader, SWAT Assistant Commander, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, and Captain over the jail.
Mr. Hughes retired as Patrol Lieutenant for the Smith County Sherriff’s Office in 2020. His many accomplishments during his service in law enforcement include receiving the Sherriff’s Meritorious Service Award, Sherriff’s Leadership Award, Supervisor of the Year, Sons of American Revolution Award for Heroism, Sherriff’s Commendation Bar, and two Life Saving Commendation Bars.
Mr. Hughes lives in Whitehouse, Texas with his wife, Niki, and their two children. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, metal working and wood working.
